Sumir Verma comes with over 15 years of experience in strategy consulting, private equity and mergers and acquisitions besides holding operational leadership roles with a turnaround challenge.

Prior to Merisis, Sumir was an Equity Shareholder and Director at Meghraj SP Corporate Finance Pvt Ltd., a midmarket focused investment banking advisory firm providing capital syndication and M&A advisory services. At Meghraj SP, he headed the Technology, Real Estate and Clean Technology verticals, and also executed deals in other sectors like business services, healthcare, education and textiles.

Prior to investment banking, he worked with Ramesh Vangal, a well-known entrepreneur (2002-2005) in At India, a venture firm, Value Bridge Services, a data mining company focused on consumer products and telecom verticals, and Cambridge Solutions, a listed IT and BPO company that grew through acquisitions. He performed various roles from starting the data mining company to helping turn around acquired IT companies. During this period, he was based out of Bangalore and the UK.

Sumir held a key role while working with Kumar Mangalam Birla in the Corporate Strategy team of the Aditya Birla Group from 1996 to end 2001. The role was a mix of strategy consulting, corporate finance and business development. A key achievement during this period is the creation of a consolidated strategy for financial services, which led to the joint venture with Sun Life of Canada and creation of the life insurance business for the Aditya Birla Group. He has domain expertise in Technology, Outsourcing & Business Services, Clean Technology industry, Real Estate and the infrastructure industry and has closed deals in these areas, as well as in industries like Healthcare services, Textiles and Metals.

Sumir is a Chartered Accountant and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur. He is a Charter Member with TiE, Mumbai, a non-profit organisation created to foster entrepreneurship. He is also a member of the steering committee of the Green Building Congress under the aegis of CII.
